The lungta is a mythical Tibetan creature from pre-Buddhist times that combines the speed of the wind and the strength of the horse to carry prayers from earth to the heavens.
Lungta is associated with positive energy or ‘life force’ and with ‘good luck’. It is both the subduer of evil and the vehicle of enlightenment.
It is believed that when one’s energy or luck is low, it helps to burn or throw stacks of paper lungta from higher up places as an offering to usher in good luck and good health.
September of 2017 is a particularly good month to practice this as it is the Rooster month of Rooster Year, so it is especially auspicious to throw or burn the Precious Horse paper lungta to ward off evils.
